Term: 2008 - 2010

Adoption of Barangay Alang-alang in Mandaue City - aimed at showcasing what Zonta is all about; thus making it a model for future projects and / or involvement in Mandaue’s growth in terms of women empowerment.


Betty Young

Term: 2006 - 2008

Who says the Welders’ job is only for men? Our Zonta Club of Cebu II proved this otherwise. In 2007 we sponsored the scholarship of 15 women welders at the University of Cebu. Some are now gainfully employed locally and abroad.

My term was for Biennium 2004-2006. There was a smooth transition because my predecessor, Architect Filna Espina took care of everything to prepare me for the job.

When I assumed the presidency of the Zonta Club of Cebu II in 2002, the club had just embarked on a new project in partnership with the mother club - the Women and Children’s Protection Center-a project more focused on the Zonta mission “to advance the status of women”. I had predicted in my inaugural speech that the new project would challenge and reenergize the membership to be more active and enthusiastically involved in the project and thus make my presidency a breeze! I was not wrong! That biennium, we accomplished a lot – we implemented big and small projects, raised funds, shared our advocacies, received awards and recognition, and networked with other Zontians, both here and abroad. 


Maria Theresa Klepp

It was really a big challenge to become President of Zonta Club of Cebu II, knowing that one will be at the helm of managing the Club composed of empowered Women who run important Organizations, big Firms, or work in the offices of influential people and other concerns of the men! I looked forward to implementing meaningful local service projects especially realizing the establishment of our One Stop Shop Crisis Center for Women & Children at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Hospital. Our Members who are the most valuable assets in our organization, not only provided assistance financially, but also personal contributions, such as expertise, insight, creativity and experience.
