Term: 2004 – 2006

My term was for Biennium 2004-2006. There was a smooth transition because my predecessor, Architect Filna Espina took care of everything to prepare me for the job.

Various activities related to the club’s flagship project, the WCFC (Women and Children Friendly Center) aka Pink Center were done during the biennium. These included the First livelihood project for Women survivors of the Center; “Isang Gunting, Isang Suklay” a brainchild of Ricky Reyes was held on October 25 – 31, 2004 wherein a trainor taught haircut to the women survivors of the Center.

The first Gender Sensitivity Training was held in 2005 in the Center and the First Parenting seminar was held at Barangay Ermita also I 2005.

The Zonta Club of Cebu II members had a presentation of international costumes during the Awarding of the Search for the GERL Ka Na Ba Barangay in 2006.

The Zonta Club of Cebu II was first accredited as an NGO by the Women’s Commission of the Cebu City Government which allowed us to get funding for the WCFC as well as other women-related projects.

On March 20, 2005, the Zonta Clubs of Cebu I and II hosted the Area 3 Meeting at the Arctic Hall, Waterfront Hotel, Lahug Cebu City with no less than our very own Mariter Klepp as the Area Director with the Cebu City First Lady then, Mme. Margarita V. Osmeña as the keynote speaker. The theme for that meeting was: “Zonta Sharing Our Time, Our Talent For A Better World”. This was culminated by a Fellowship in the evening at the Teatro Filipino, Waterfront with a Retro, the 60’s attire.

The club was the recipient, together with the Zonta Club of Cebu I, of the Service Award for Improving the Status of Women by way of its nurturing its flagship project, the WCFC during the District 17 Conference on September 18, 2005 at Pahang, Kuantan, Malaysia.

On April 5 & 6, 2006, the 4th Z Cup Golf Tournament of the Zonta Clubs of Cebu I and II was held at the Cebu Country Club with Senator Tito Sotto as guest.

My term ended with the attendance as delegate to the 58th Zonta International Convention in Melbourne, Australia from June 25 – 29, 2006.
