Sometime in the middle part of 1980, the Organization Committee of the Zonta Club of Cebu headed by the active and efficient chairman, Mrs. Gloria L. Escano and supported by equally reliable members, Mrs. Proserfina de Guzman and Dr. Suga Sotto-Yuvienco issued invitations to several career women of Cebu City and Mandaue City to join the Zonta Club of Cebu II.

The invitations were accepted by most, who considered the same as a distinct honor and privilege to be counted among such women of exceptional abilities in their respective fields of endeavour.

The following lively and dynamic ladies most graciously and enthusiastically became the core of the new-born Zonta Club of Cebu II:

Alice E. Bathan
Marilou R. Canizares
Eugenia Chiong
Lily Cristina Ngochua
Amelia Roa-Enriquez
Filna Daphne P. Espina
Rosario C. Gerinea
Beatriz Sandra de Guzman
Concepcion Y. Lua
Evelyn P. Mellana
Fe Magale
Consuelo Escano-Misa
Rosalia Ong
Josie Militar Sala
Maria Paz Sievert
Virgincita Yap-Tio
Mildred Z. Simolde
Esperanza Valenzona
Agnes Sotto-Young
Connegunda Paras-Yu
Eleanor Zubiri

Due to the careful screening of the new members, the invitations had to be sent until early part of 1981 to reach the required 20 members to constitute the needed number of charter members of this Club.

On May 2, 1981, the members of this club held their first orientation meeting and election of officers. The first set of officers and directors duly elected for the biennium 1981-83 were:

President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer

After such elections, the officers held their regular monthly board meetings and started to form the needed committees to make the club effective in the pursuit of its goals and objectives.

Being a baby club, the Zonta Club of Cebu II is still being guided and supported by the ever-helpful officers of the Zonta Club of Cebu I headed by its energetic President Amparing Rodil.

In response to such immeasurable guidance, the Zonta II members pledge their support to all Zonta endeavours. With the dynamism of their youth and the expertise attained from their respective fields, this club has all the needed elements for success. The members of Zonta II will be inducted on September 19, 1981 at the Casino Espanol de Cebu.

Under the stewardship of its charming and proficient president, Amy Enriquez and the encouraging support of its members, the new-born Zonta Club of Cebu II bears watching.
