Read Along at the Cebu City Public Library with the Mayor

The Cebu City Public Library  was recently honored by the presence of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama who was invited to read to the children of Barangay Camputhaw in Cebu City.   The Mayor’s visit was in line with the Library’s  READ ALONG  and storytelling  sessions regularly held in the Zonta Childrens Reading Corner at the Rizal Memorial Library and Museum, where prominent personalities, businessmen and students from the high schools and universities in Cebu are invited or volunteer to read to children from the different barangays in the City.

The children listened to the Mayor, enrapt, thoroughly enjoying the stories the Mayor read,  and eagerly answering the questions he asked to test their comprehension.  Last summer, it was the turn of some Zontians to read to the children of Barangays Lahug, Capitol and Santa Cruz.  Zontians Myrna Cruz Tan, Chinggay Utzurrum,  Petite Garcia, Conchita Van Gelder and Bernie Aboitiz came all prepared to entertain the children not only with books to read but with costumes and  puppets for more visual effects.
