Almost 50 participants attended (women’s group, VAWC desk officers, councilor on social services/ gad focal person, lupon and barangay staff).
Marilou Canizares, the project chairperson provided information on Zonta’s efforts to reach out larger clientele especially the barangay level on its advocacy to prevent and eradicate violence against women and children.
The activity allows the participants to gain insights on how to respond to violence and interventions.
The speaker emphasized the discussion on the Myth on Violence Against Women (VAW) and the Salient Feature of RA 9262 (VAWC) especially the Protection Order. The workshop on “Five Fingers” with focus questions allows the participants to reflect/ share personal concerns on abuses in some point in their life.
The Role Play per group is a real – actualization on VAWC situations and how to address such problem in the home/community. The participants portrayed effectively. A token given to best actress, best supporting and best group. It was well participated.
Myrna Ngochua gave its closing statements by acknowledging the participants their full support to the activity and to Zonta’s advocacy for women empowerment. Hon. Menchu Borlasas, chairperson on Social Services was thankful to the members of Zonta Club of Cebu for sharing this kind of information/awareness to their barangay.
