Zonta Club of Cebu II sponsored a seminar focusing on sanitation, hygiene and safety for the Club’s adopted Barangay Alang-Alang of Mandaue’s 4K Women’s Group at the Learning Resource Center Of the Univ of Southern Philippines Foundation, Inc in Lahug, Cebu City.
This seminar forms part of a series of training seminars that the 4K Women’s Group has attended since its inception in 2012.
As the group has adopted livelihood program as its main focus, Zonta Club of Cebu II has asked a TESDA resource person to train this core group of twenty women in preparing Filipino snack items in a hands- on experience setting. Another training was in Bookkeeping lessons. Our very own Z Odette Jereza, a Doctorate graduate, also empowered them with talks on leadership and management Previous talks were on Zonta International advocacies, anti-Violence against Women and Children and women empowerment. Their next step would be the implementation of their food service plans after City Hall permits are secured.
Resource speaker and trainer, Mr. Rowell Panuncial stressed to the attendees that food safety and sanitation are very important issues for the success of the food industry. He also added that high standards of personal hygiene will reduce the risk of contamination and help prevent food poisoning.
The Seminar ended with Pres Myrna distributing Zonta Club of Cebu II shirts with the Stop VAW-C “If not now, when?” brand printed on the back of their purple shirts.
