Last September 17-19, 2013, Mira Hotel in Hong Kong was the venue for the 17th Seventy-one (71) clubs from District 17, coming from five countries, namely, Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong , Thailand and Malaysia, met in a spirit of friendship and camaraderie, but on a more serious vein, tackling issues on violence against women and children.

With the Hong Kong clubs as host, no stone was left unturned to make the event well organized in terms of food, entertainment, and program. The three workshops had effective speakers and facilitators.

Day One had the parade of banners and colors, carried by the Area Directors and Club Presidents. Zonta International President’s Representative, Anita Schnetzer- Spranger , carried the ZI Banner followed by District Governor Winnie Teoh bearing the District 17 Banner.

The most awaited portion was the closing night ceremonies where Zonta Club of Cebu II dominated the Governor’s Awards. The Club’s hard work and efforts have been recognized as the club was the most awarded, garnering four trophies across different categories:

  1. Most Outstanding Zonta Difference Service Award- 1st Place
  2. Most Outstanding Zonta Difference Achievement Award –2nd Place
  3. Most Outstanding Zonta Difference Club Website Award -2nd Place
  4. Zonta Difference Award for Outstanding Achievement in Organizing a new Z Club

Zonta Club of Cebu II President Myrna Cruz Tan commended all the club members as all these would not have been possible without the dedication of the Club’s members who continue to selflessly devote their time and resources to the club and its advocacies.

This, truly, made all the difference!
