Zonta Club of Cebu II Barangay Alang-Alang 4K Livelihood Program

In answer to the request of our 4Kwomen in Alang-Alang, our club sponsored another training as part of our livelihood program. February 20, 2015 was the date chosen for a training in powder detergent, fabric softener and dishwashing liquid making. Twenty-two women who were most eager to learn in order to be able to augment their family income attended this. The trainer, Hon. Adelaida Frasco Ouano is a very competent trainer aside from her other qualifications such as: 1st councilor of Barangay Banilad, Cebu City, former GAD Focal, Chairperson for Committee on Gender and Advocacy Development, and facilitator for Women’s Rights and Gender Concerns.

The women were all made to try the procedures and were made familiar with the ingredients. The trainer also explained to them the techniques and ways to make good profit. Everybody was interested because the steps were simple and could be easily made. Inasmuch as not everybody could afford the capital of the ingredients, it was agreed that the 4K will just produce the items namely, laundry detergent, fabric softener and dishwashing liquid. Most women will do the marketing at a profit. This way the 4K will be sustained and the other women who cannot be in the food preparation livelihood will be able to make something to augment the family income. As moral support to the training, Zontians present were Elsa Basubas, Betty Young, Mayette Malinao, Petite Garcia, and Mildred Simolde. The women were inspired to pursue the purpose of this training. Most of all, they were happy to bring home samples of their products.
