Strengthening PNP WCPU through Gender-Responsive Delivery of Service to VAWC Survivors

A key player in the protection of women, at the community level, is the officer-in-charge of the Women and Children Protection Desk of every police station. On November 28, 2022, a seminar-workshop for Region 7 PNP-WCPU was held at Bai Hotel in Mandaue City. In attendance were female police officers assigned to the Women and Children Protection Unit representing different cities and municipalities of the region. As to the activity’s objective, the title states it clearly: “Strengthening PNP WCPU through Gender-Responsive Delivery of Service to VAWC Survivors.”

Atty. Myles Gonzales-Esquivel, a seasoned, passionate advocate of women’s rights, was invited as the resource person, who provided the inputs in a lecture, and facilitated the workshop. (Atty. Esquivel is the executive director of Miriam College Child Rights Advocacy Center and a legal consultant of Child Protection Unit-Philippine General Hospital. She is also a member of the Philippine Commission on Women.)
