Zonta Club of Cebu II Hosts Annual Gift-Giving Event for Women PDLs at Mandaue City Jail

CEBU CITY – The Zonta Club of Cebu II held its fourth annual gift-giving event for female persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Mandaue City BJMP. These visits, conducted at least twice a year, aim to create happy memories for this marginalized group of women. A few hours of socializing bring immense joy to everyone involved, including the Zontians, proving that good deeds are truly therapeutic.

This year, the women PDLs organized a short program, eagerly participated in by talented inmates who sang, danced, and acted as emcees. One inmate spoke on behalf of all the female wards, expressing their gratitude to the Zonta Club of Cebu II for a fun-filled afternoon.

The Zonta Club prepared 166 gift packs, each containing essential items such as rubber slippers, towels, toiletries, and laundry detergent. Additionally, each pack included a lipstick, a small but appreciated item by any woman. The gift packs also contained coffee, candies, biscuits, and chips.

As part of the Christmas party, everyone enjoyed snacks to conclude the memorable afternoon. Zontians Elsa Basubas, Mildred Simolde, and Regal Oliva were, and continue to be, the driving forces behind this heartwarming activity.
