In the true spirit of Christmas, on December 9, 2025, members of the Zonta Club of Cebu II spent a meaningful morning filled with warmth, compassion, and encouragement with the women inmates of the BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) Facility in Mandaue City.
More than an exchange of gifts or holiday greetings, the visit centered on something far more lasting—presence, understanding, and hope. Through heartfelt conversations and words of affirmation, the women were reminded that their past circumstances do not determine their future. ZCCII placed special focus on women serving short-term sentences, offering emotional and mental support as they prepare for reintegration into their families and communities.
We extend our deepest appreciation to ZCCII President Lucy Carcel; Board Members Elsa Basubas and Cita Chan; and dedicated members Edwina (Wee) Uy and Mildred Simolde. Their steadfast commitment and leadership continue to guide this annual outreach, bringing dignity, compassion, and renewed hope to the women they serve.
This quiet yet powerful encounter reaffirmed a simple truth: second chances matter. Especially during the season of renewal, kindness and dignity have the power to illuminate new beginnings.
May this act of service reach far beyond the prison walls, carrying with it a message of hope—that every woman deserves the chance to start anew.
