Alimbukad Basa Pamilya Gains International Recognition for Promoting Literacy and Family Bonds

WE FEEL PROUD TO BE NOTICED AGAIN by Zonta International! Our heartfelt thanks for bringing our beloved educational platform, Alimbukad Basa Pamilya, to the world stage. This recognition highlights the impact of our literacy project, which continues to inspire families to cultivate a love of reading and promote education as a foundation for growth.

The Zonta Club of Cebu II, Philippines, proudly continues its long-standing Alimbukad Basa Pamilya project, now in its 11th year. This initiative promotes literacy and strengthens family bonds for kindergarten to Grade 2 students across three public schools in Cebu. Through parent-child involvement, the program encourages a passion for reading by providing free, age-appropriate books to participating families.

In August, Zonta members launched the new school year at Guadalupe, Cabancalan, and Olango Island schools, distributing 400 book bags to young students. During the launch, parents pledged to read aloud to their children at home, reinforcing the program’s core belief that literacy and personal growth begin with family engagement.
