CEBU — A decade-long commitment to literacy and family empowerment continues to bear fruit as the K–2 Alimbukad Team of Poo Elementary School celebrates another successful year of nurturing a culture of reading among young learners and their families.
Through Zonta Club Cebu II’s Alimbukad: Basa Pamilya program, approximately 180 families are reached each year, creating meaningful opportunities for parents and children to learn, grow, and connect through reading. The initiative emphasizes the vital role of parents as their children’s first teachers, strengthening family bonds while fostering a lifelong love for learning.
For over ten years, the program has made a lasting impact by inspiring young minds and empowering households with the tools and confidence to build literacy at home. Its continued success reflects a shared belief that education begins within the family and that reading can open doors to greater opportunities.
Organizers highlighted that this meaningful work would not be possible without the unwavering support of the school leadership, particularly the principal, along with the dedicated teachers and staff who guide the program. Equally vital are the committed parents and the broader community, whose involvement helps sustain and grow the initiative year after year.
As the program marks another milestone, Zonta Club Cebu II and its partners extend their congratulations and appreciation to everyone involved in making Alimbukad a powerful force for positive change.
With continued collaboration and shared purpose, the program is poised to reach even more families—bringing hope, learning, and opportunity into every home it touches.
