CHRONICLES OF KINDNESS: MULAO Elementary & High School Outreach

Kindness carries a quiet yet powerful strength. It heals what is wounded, rebuilds what has been lost, and gently encourages others to choose compassion. In a world often filled with uncertainty and hardship, kindness remains one of the most enduring forces—capable of transforming lives and reminding us of our shared humanity.

Guided by this belief, on December 1, 2025, the Zonta Club of Cebu II, in partnership with the Visayas Art Fair Team, MIRASOL Foundation / Secours Populaire Français, and 2 Loves and 2 Fish, came together to extend meaningful support to the community of Mulao.

Through this collective effort, school supplies, slippers, and t-shirts were distributed to 245 elementary pupils and 699 high school students. Displaced families received much-needed clothing, while 50 water drums and a water filtration system were provided—turning rainwater and murky sources into safe, drinkable water for the community.

The joy was unmistakable. Bright smiles and infectious excitement filled the air as learners—from kindergartners to Grade 10 students—welcomed these simple yet life-giving gifts. In those moments, we were reminded once again that kindness rises above uncertainty and pain. It reaches hearts, uplifts spirits, and restores hope where it is needed most.

Our deepest thanks to the students, faculty, and residents of Mulao for their warm welcome and for allowing us to serve during this challenging time. Your strength and resilience continue to inspire us.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Zonta members who made this initiative possible—President Lucy Carcel, EVP Petite Garcia, Board Member Margie Sy, Laurie A. Boquiren, and February Canoy—alongside the dedicated Visayas Art Fair Team led by Irene Ngosiok, Sofia, Roe, Aubrey, and Christian. Together, your compassion made a lasting difference.
