ECO COUTURE: Loving Mother Earth with Style – A Celebration of Fashion and Sustainability

On October 5, 2024, the Z Club of Childlink High School, in cooperation with the Zonta Club of Cebu 2, hosted a vibrant event titled ECO COUTURE: Loving Mother Earth with Style – A Journey to the Four Seasons. The celebration combined fashion, creativity, and environmental consciousness, drawing parents, guests, and students to a unique showcase of sustainable fashion.

Z Club President Zachary Gomez proudly announced the launch of the "I Love Mother Earth Movement," a campaign aimed at encouraging proactive efforts to combat climate change. In his opening remarks, Gomez highlighted the importance of sustainability and the club's collaboration with teachers to educate students on the "6Rs" of sustainability: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repair. “These actions are vital in our quest to show love and respect for our planet,” he emphasized.

The highlight of the event was a fashion show featuring shirts adorned with recycled materials. While the designs leaned more toward sustainability than traditional fashion, Gomez stated, “These pieces represent concrete steps we can take as a school community to act decisively in preserving our environment.” The fashion show not only promoted sustainability but also inspired students to take an active role in addressing modern-day challenges.

Gomez called on attendees to join the movement, urging collective action to create a more environmentally and socially responsible community. “This is our Linker’s plea, let it be yours too,” he encouraged.

As the audience settled in for the show, the atmosphere was charged with the spirit of sustainable fashion, leaving everyone inspired to embrace eco-friendly practices. Zonta Club of Cebu 2 officers and members, led by President Lucy Carcel, were present and expressed immense pride in the environmental consciousness demonstrated by the Z Club members of Childlink High School.

The event proved that fashion can be a powerful platform for change and a call to action for a healthier planet, reinforcing the commitment of the Z Club of Childlink to lead by example in promoting sustainability.
