Empowering Poo Elementary’s K1 Students Through the ALIMBUKAD Basa Pamilya Reading Project

A BRIGHTER FUTURE, ONE PAGE AT A TIME

ALIMBUKAD Basa Pamilya, one of Zonta Club of Cebu 2’s advocacy projects continues to sow the seeds of knowledge and curiosity for a bright future for the K1 students of Poo Elementary School at San Vicente, Olango Island in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Empowering the young children to dream big and reach for the stars.

At the core of this transformative advocacy, lies the understanding that the journey to academic excellence and personal growth starts at HOME. Parents, as their first teachers in a child’s life, play a pivotal role in instilling a passion for learning and exploration. Zonta Club of Cebu 2 through the ALIMBUKAD Basa Pamilya project recognizes the profound impact of parental involvement in a child’s education and is dedicated to empowering families to become active participants in their children’s learning journey.

On AUG 8, 2024 – The school grounds of Poo Elementary School echoed with the cheers and warm welcome extended by the teachers, K1 students, and their parents to the 8 Zonta Club 2 members who braved the high seas and the intense heat of the morning sun to be at Olango Island. Together with the teachers, they witnessed the parents make a pledge of commitment to set aside a time at home to read aloud to their children using the books provided to them for free thru the ALIMBUKAD Basa Pamilya Project. As Zonta members, we renewed our commitment in supporting this project with them. TOGETHER, we are rewriting the narrative of education and creating a legacy of hope, resilience and empowerment.

LET’s build a world where every child has the opportunity to soar, guided by the light of knowledge and the warmth of community.
