Making Waves for Change in Consolacion Cebu Coastal Cleanup Inspires a Greener Tomorrow

On September 20, 2025, the shores of Consolacion, Cebu came alive with purpose as diverse sectors united for a coastal cleanup drive that went beyond removing waste—it reignited our shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

In line with International Coastal Cleanup Day, the initiative underscored that the event was far more than symbolic—it was a strategic environmental action aimed at restoring marine ecosystems, safeguarding biodiversity, and uplifting communities whose livelihoods depend on clean and healthy waters. Every piece of trash collected became a step toward a sustainable future where development and conservation can coexist.

The cleanup was a collaborative effort among the LGU of Consolacion, Department of Agriculture, DENR, Bantay Dagat, BJMP Consolacion, local fisherfolk, Our Lady of Joy Learning Center (Z Club members and faculty), and the Zonta Club of Cebu II. Each group played a vital role in weaving together a stronger, more resilient coastal community.

This day served as a powerful reminder that environmental responsibility is not a one-time event—it’s a continuous journey. Through unity and purposeful action, we demonstrated that small efforts, when multiplied, can create transformative change.

Together, we made waves—not just in the water, but in the hearts of everyone who believes in a cleaner, greener future for Cebu.
