Youthful Expressions in Color: Visayas Art Fair 2024 and Pinta de Baryo’s Inspiring Mural Project

The Visayas Art Fair recently collaborated with Pinta de Baryo, an artist from Gallery Down South in Mindanao, to create an unforgettable experience for Zonta Club of Cebu 2’s Z Club high school students from Our Lady of Joy Learning Center. Held on a sunny Saturday morning, November 23, at the Atrium Area of Oakridge Business Park, the event centered around an immersive mural painting session.

The mural, titled "Akoy-Akoy: Pagdadalaga at Pagbibinata", captures the transformative journey of adolescence—depicting the vibrant transition from the awkward stages of puberty to the exciting world of teenagehood. Filled with playful imagery and lively colors, it embodies joy, creativity, and self-expression.

The students’ smiles as they painted radiated the excitement and connection fostered through this artistic endeavor. It was a testament to how art can inspire and empower young minds, turning a simple activity into a celebration of youth and creativity.

This inspiring project was made even more special by the supportive presence of the Zonta Club of Cebu 2. Members of the club cheered on and encouraged the students, further enriching the experience and reinforcing the values of mentorship and community.

The "Akoy-Akoy" mural will remain on display at the Atrium of Oakridge Business Park, serving as a vibrant testament to the first-ever artistic immersion organized by the Visayas Art Fair for young students. It stands as a reminder of how art not only decorates spaces but also nurtures young talent and connects communities.

Through initiatives like this, the Visayas Art Fair continues to champion the importance of artistic exploration, encouraging the next generation to embrace their creativity and find joy in every stroke of color.
