Z Club members lead the way as Team 31786 PhilBot26 shines in Vietnam

From January 30 to February 1, 2026, Team 31786 – PhilBot26 of Our Lady of Joy Learning Center proudly represented the Philippines at PhilBot26 held at the Vietnam National Innovation Center in Hoa Lac, Vietnam, guided with dedication by our fellow Zontian Mary Rose V. Manghuyop.

In their very first year joining the FIRST Tech Challenge, this neophyte team began with little experience — but with courage, teamwork, and determination, they learned everything from scratch. From understanding competition rules to building and testing their robot, coding with blocks, and refining their design step by step, the students embraced every challenge. When their first model didn’t work, they chose to start again, improving their intake system and strengthening their shooter — a true display of perseverance and innovation.

Beyond robotics, the team inspired others by organizing an FTC orientation at their school, welcoming new members and helping grow a learning community rooted in service and collaboration.

A wonderful surprise capped their journey when this rookie team won 2nd Place for the REACH Award at PhilBot26 — an incredible achievement for first-time participants and a testament to their hard work, teamwork, and heart.

Congratulations to our Z Club members and Our Lady of Joy Learning Center students representing PhilBot26 — CJ Bacus, Mika Ramo, Adllyn Almario, and Rose Tongcos — and to their dedicated mentors Chris T. Camus, Mary Rose Manghuyop, and Rey Engelbert D. Manghuyop. We are so proud of you!

Their success beautifully shows how mentorship, sisterhood, and opportunity can shape a better world for women and girls.
