Day Care Centers

EDUCATIONAL LOVE PROJECT OF ZONTA CLUB OF CEBU II

Consuntingan Day Care Center initially opened with the support of the Mandaue City government in 1982. Some 50 children enrollees were enthusiastically accompanied by their parents during the formation stage. For over ten years Ms. Alice Paquibot, day care teacher, was instrumental in providing guidance and tutorship, as well as inspiration for the young mothers.

Our club made regular visits the first few years and initially subsidized the teacher’s salary, until the Day Care Center was able to run on its own when the parents of the day care children themselves donated cash and in-kind contributions to finance the day-to-day operations of the center. Today, after 30 years, many of the former day care children are working abroad or are gainfully employed locally. Most have already their own families. However, the Consuntingan Day Care Center continues to impart its mission to the school children, as they have new enrollees every year. Our Zonta Club of Cebu II never fails to bring Christmas cheers to the children, every year.

Tipolo Day Care Center is located in a rather needy area of Mandaue, but schoolchildren are enthusiastically pursuing their goals to attain basic primary and intermediate education. Their teacher for so many years Ms. Edna Maca-alay is a dedicated educator for the young children. The parents are likewise supportive and cooperative.
Their school building had been gutted with fire on 2 occasions. Our Zonta Club of Cebu II helped in putting up their makeshift schoolhouse to continue serving the educational needs of the children and the community. A few years back the local government unit renovated the school building and it is now also utilized for livelihood and health training. We also make yearly visits particularly for the Christmas Cheers.
